Interview with Inspirational Romance Author Clare Revell

Please give a warm welcome to author Clare Revell! Today she’s celebrating the release of her latest book, Cassie’s Wedding Dress. As part of that celebration, she has answered a few questions about herself, her book, and writing in general.

Clare lives in a small town in England with her husband of 19 years and her three children. Writing from a early childhood and encouraged by her teachers, she graduated from rewriting fairy stories through fanfiction to using her own original characters and enjoys writing an eclectic mix of romance, crime fiction and children’s stories. When she’s not writing, reading, sewing or keeping house or doing the many piles of laundry her children manage to make, she’s working part time in the breakfast club at one of the local schools.

She has been a Christian for more than half her life. She goes to Carey Baptist where she is one of three registrars.

Now for the interview.

E.A.:  Tell us a little about yourself.

Clare:  I’m married with three children ranging in age from 17 to 12. Dean and I have been married for 19 years. When I’m not writing, I like reading or doing cross stitch. I work in a school in the breakfast club, term time. I’m also a registrar for my church.

E.A.:  Please tell us about your latest release.

Clare:  Cassie’s Wedding Dress comes out on October 14th. It’s a Royal Wedding tie in and was written just after the engagement announcement was made. I’d wanted to write Pastor Jack’s story for some time and this pretty much wrote itself.

Steeplechase jockey Cassie Hinton’s dream was to walk down the aisle in her medieval wedding gown to become Mrs. Jack Chambers. Injured in the Grand National, she returns home…only to find Jack is now the Pastor of her parent’s church.

Jack Chambers, now a widower and single parent, still has feelings for Cassie, but she sees him as nothing more than a Pastor. Even if he could change her mind, there is still his position to consider.

With the Royal Wedding fast approaching, Cassie makes her dress, little dreaming of the consequences of doing so.

E.A.:  Cassie’s Wedding Dress sounds like a great read! Where can readers purchase a copy of your book?

Clare:  http://www.pelicanbookgroup.com/ec/cassie-s-wedding-dress

E.A.:  What is your favorite part of writing?

Clare:  I love the whole thing. From getting to know the characters to seeing how they just take over the story completely and do their own thing. Usually taking any plan I have and tossing it out of the window. My least fave bit actually is The End. It’s so hard to see them go and set them off on their own in the world.

E.A.:  What advice would you give to new writers?

Clare:  Don’t give up. I’ve been writing stories since I was old enough to learn to write. It took years of sending stories off and being rejected before I had one accepted. And yes I still get rejections and they are still hard to deal with.

And no you won’t get rich overnight. Unless you’re a Stephen King or a JK Rowling, no author can give up the day job and write 24/7.

E.A.:  Awesome advice! Now, just for fun, if your latest release was turned into a movie, who do you think should play the hero and heroine?

Clare:  I always cast my books. I find it so much easier to visualize the characters that way.

Book Description:

Steeplechase jockey Cassie Hinton’s dream was to walk down the aisle in her medieval wedding gown to become Mrs. Jack Chambers. Injured in the Grand National, she returns home…only to find Jack is now the Pastor of her parent’s church.

Jack Chambers, now a widower and single parent, still has feelings for Cassie, but she sees him as nothing more than a Pastor. Even if he could change her mind, there is still his position to consider.

With the Royal Wedding fast approaching, Cassie makes her dress, little dreaming of the consequences of doing so.

Excerpt:

“Everyone else has photos of the royal couple and ribbons, silver bells, hearts and balloons. I wanted something more sophisticated but this…” she gestured at the window, “…isn’t it.”

“Maybe tie it in with what Danny sells. After all, the bakers did a wedding cake and the printers did invitations.”

Cassie nodded, her mind whirling. “Yeah…thank you.”

Jack glanced at his watch. “I’d best be off and get Lara from school. She complains if I’m late. I hope you find a solution to your problem.”

“Thank you. Bye.” Cassie smiled and turned back to her display, watching Jack’s reflection in the glass as he walked away. He’d always been a Godly man, even as a teenager, and despite everything that happened he kept his faith—unlike her. Her life and her faith lay in ruins.

She used to hope he’d ask her out one day, but it never happened. And now it never would. She was down and out before anything even got started.

He was a pastor, and she was his parishioner. A fallen- without- hope- of- redemption parishioner, at that. Strike one.

He was a widower with a small daughter. Strike two.

Her leg—her disability. No man would ever want a one-legged ex-jockey. Strike three.
